Amsterdam University College (AUC) offers a three-year Liberal Arts and Sciences Bachelor’s degree, jointly awarded by the University of Amsterdam and Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam. AUC takes an interdisciplinary approach to today’s complex questions in science and society. From climate change and public health to AI, these challenges require perspectives from multiple academic disciplines to develop valuable solutions.

Students choose one of three majors: Sciences, Social Sciences or Humanities. The programme begins with an academic foundation that develops thinking, writing and argumentation skills while introducing students to different disciplines. AUC has a particularly strong focus on the Sciences, giving students opportunities to explore scientific fields regardless of their chosen major. Students also develop future-focused skills such as programming and shape their own interdisciplinary study path from more than 200 courses, with guidance from a personal tutor.

Experiential learning and community are at the heart of AUC. Students participate in labs, internships, community projects and international engagement, alongside an active social life. For three years, students live on AUC’s residential campus with approximately 900 students from more than 60 countries, becoming part of a close-knit international community.
